Moldova vs Faroe Islands – Betting Preview

Moldova vs Faroe Islands – Betting Preview

The first match of Moldova and Faroe Islands’ qualifying run for EURO 2024 will be played at Stadionul Zimbru.

Faroe Islands and Moldova both missed out on qualifying for the World Cup in Qatar. Both have been unable to go past the qualification rounds due to their underwhelming performances.

These two, however, will have great expectations to compete in the Euro Cup Qualifying games. Yet they face competition from groups like Group E rivals Poland and Czech Republic.

Moldova Preview

In their most recent friendly, Moldova suffered a 5-0 loss. The Moldovans had a variety of defensive issues, but on their own field, they can certainly compete with the Faroe Islands. Although Artur Ionita of Modena has been ruled out due to injury, keep that in mind.

These teams met twice in the past, and both games were played during the last World Cup qualifiers in 2021. The first match in Moldova ended with a 1-1 points split, and the other game brought the Faroe Islands a 2-1 win.

Both sides have played in the lower division of the UEFA Nations League, and Moldova was more impressive winning all three matches last summer.

Moldova will try to draw its strength from their Nations League wins just over six months ago, those matches, even though not against Europe’s best opposition, showed that this team has improved enough to make sure they are the favorites at home against the Faroe Islands.

Faroe Islands Preview

Contrarily, in their last pregame match, the visitors were held to a 1-1 tie by Kosovo. The two national teams drew 1-1 in their most recent meeting in Chisinau, and another low-scoring contest is expected considering their struggles in front of goal.

A man to watch in the visiting team will be Serbia-born Sligo Rovers attacker Stefan Radosavljevic, who scored as a substitute against Kosovo.

Faroe Island’s overall and away stats are viewed as erratic. Their statistics when they are travelling are worse. Since September 2020, the team has not experienced a road victory.

The Faroes are an even smaller country, and by a large margin, in contrast to Moldova. They have never been close to playing in a European championship, and for this team, it’s all about enjoying the opportunity and gaining some additional experience. That, however, doesn’t mean they can’t be dangerous.
